FORMER SABRE ROB RAY ISSUES WAKE UP CALL

Ryan Miller in previous seasons, has been a little to involved in things that he had no control over. He would stress over how the teams playing .whose doing their job ,who isn't, all things that he has absolutely no control over. A lot of this was because he is such a competitor , and the fact the Sabres lack a veteran leader. Ryan thought that he needed to do it all. After missing the playoffs he had some extra time to figure out what his role really was...stopping the puck.. and not worrying about all the extras..since his return this season he has been a totally different goalie....he is composed relaxed and in a lot of cases so far this season maybe not carrying the team but close ...each and every night he is giving the Sabres a chance to win...along with that his save percentage and goals against are tops in the league...amazing what time and maturity can do for a player...

How about his awesome lateral foot movement and speed both as good as any top defenseman in the NHL, close but still not his best asset.Tyler Myers composure and willingness to jump up in the play and create offense and never panic under pressure and never I mean never shy away from the physical play makes this kid standout !. He reminds me of a young Chris Pronger and if i sound excited over this kid I AM he is going to be great.

After being bullied and pushed around for the past few seasons they are ready to push back ! Post Lock-out size has been a major issue. Size Matters ! And so it has been addressed. The Sabres have drafted bigger and the possible insertion of 6’11” Tyler Myers who could just be a Chris Pronger in the making is something to keep on eye on...In addition bringing make Mike Grier, who is a little long in the tooth, could be an nice addition if he stays healthy. The line of Grier,Gostad and Hect has been awesome. Ryan Miller seems to be healthy and looks very much under control.Vanek, Roy and Pomminville are ready to show the NHL that they are premier players in this League.<br/> For me the biggest question marks will be on the backline..Talinder and Ludman must rebound to teh form of 2 years ago if the Sabres are to succeed. The Addition of Steve Montidor was a nice pick up as he is not flashy, but he is steady ad can go up front or back if need be...Seriously give the old Sabres a little respect and let them prove us wrong....

Maybe It’s Time To Rethink Playoff Schedule.

They get several great series. They have awesome action ,and to put the icing on the cake they get the two best scenarios possible , A Crosby vs. Ovechkin match up and then a rematch of last years final . What more could the NHL head honchos ask for ? As always , then there is the let down, the momentum breaker ,too much time between series. So now the NHL will be forced to compete against a possible Kobe vs. LeBron Finals. If that happens look out. In 1999 we went to the Stanley Cup finals, of course most of you remember Brett Hulls controversial goal in overtime in game 6, that gave Dallas the Cup. I doubt many of you remember that the game was played on June 19th ! Let me say that again JUNE 19th !!! , I’m sorry but that is ridiculous. People in the north not counting Canada do not want to watch hockey on a nice sunny day when they only have 2 to 3 months of that type of weather for the entire year. I think the NHL offices really need to take a long hard look at this. When the best of the best in our game are battling it out for the greatest championship in sports nobody but the respective towns and the diehards are watching to me ...that sucks !!
